Following his loss to Demian Maia at UFC on FOX 21 (see it again here), Carlos Condit openly stated that he wasn’t too sure he still had what it took to compete at the highest level anymore, leading many to believe “The Natural Born Killer” was all but ready to wrap up his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.

That said, during a recent interview with The Las Vegas Review Journal, Condit says he has yet to make an official decision regarding his fighting future.

“I’m not sure, I haven’t made a hard decision on that. But, regardless, I think all of us in our career we start putting things in place to set yourself up for success,” he said.

Carlos, as well as many other longtime veterans, was in Las Vegas to attend a UFC Veteran Athlete Summit which aimed at trying to show fighters how to prepare for life after fighting.

Should he retire, Condit has an idea what he would like to do to fill the void that not fighting will leave behind.

“I’m passionate about fitness, active lifestyle and nutrition,” Condit said. “I think that there’s a lot of different opportunities for that as people decide they don’t want to be unhealthy, and they want to live healthy lifestyles. So I think I’ll probably go into that field.”

Furthermore, Carlos also stated that his possible retirement is due to fear of possible head trauma which could lead to long-term affects in his later years of life.

When you take health into consideration, no one will blame “The Natural born Killer’ if he does indeed decide to step away from the fight game for good, though he would be missed.
