Ronda Rousey’s recent remarks on Ellen have made observers cast doubts upon her for her upcoming fight against Amanda Nunes.
Ronda Rousey recently announced that her upcoming fight against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 will be “one of her last fights.” Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres, the former women’s bantamweight champion promised that her December 30th bout is one that everyone must tune in to.
“I’m wrapping it up. This is definitely one of my last fights. So everyone better watch. The show isn’t going to be around forever,” Rousey declared.
A good handful have been questioning Rousey’s mentality since her loss to Holly Holm in November 2015. Fellow fighters such as Miesha Tate are uncertain about whether or not she comes back as the same “Rowdy” that dominated the women’s 135-pound division almost four years ago.
FOX Sports 1 analyst Colin Cowherd expressed the same sentiment during the Tuesday edition of his show “The Herd.” So much so that he predicts almost a sure victory for Amanda Nunes, if Rousey does hold such a mindset.
“You can’t be halfway in on UFC,” Cowherd said. “It’s not like basketball where a guy can push off. If Ronda Rousey’s mindset is ‘this is one of my last fights,’ she’s retired. She’s one foot out the door. You can’t be in halfway on UFC. UFC stands for Ultimate Fighting Championship, not ‘you fight conveniently.’ You gotta be all in.”
