Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight turned-Welterweight standout, Donald Cerrone, is an adrenaline junkie. As if a career in professional mixed martial arts (MMA) was not intense enough, “Cowboy” is well-known for his wild adventures outside the Octagon, from near-death experiences under water and atop rock faces.
So it would not shock anyone, including company President Dana White, if Cerrone had his face mangled in a violent bull-riding accident or wrecked his all-terrain vehicle — again — weeks before a planned fight and did not withdraw. After all, if a fighter does not show up to fight, he or she does not get paid. And “Cowboy” needs all the money he can get to afford his “out of control” lifestyle.
It’s that mindset that make videos like the one posted above momentarily plausible.
“What’s going on everybody … it’s Cowboy. Before the media puts out what happened, I just want to let you all know that I am fighting in Toronto on December 10. Everything is good. After hours on the table, doctors were able to save my eye, so no issues there. Give it a couple of weeks to heal up and see you in Toronto … shit … can’t catch a break on this fight.”
Cerrone, of course, is just having some fun. He apparently crossed paths with a very talented make up artist ahead of his upcoming fight with Matt Brown at UFC 206, which takes place Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on Dec. 10, 2016.
Even still, he has got nothing on Paul Felder’s recent — and very real — facial re-arrangement.
