Jon Kopenhaver, better known as “War Machine,” is finally going to trial.

The embattled former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Bellator MMA fighter will face the judge and jury beginning on Feb. 27, 2017 for his alleged brutal assault on ex-girlfriend Christy Mack, as well as Corey Thomas, which occurred back in 2014.

Full details here.

Instead, Jon — who has been behind bars since he was captured a few weeks after the attack — and his legal team have opted to take their chances in trial. And according to Brandon Sua, Kopenhaver’s defense lawyer, he is confident he can get his client acquitted, as the judge ruled during the legal proceeding that their past sexual relationship experiences — which included fantasies Mack had of Kopenhaver simulate raping her — would be allowed to be heard at the trial.

Mack suffered extensive injuries (see the photos here) during the alleged attack, and has since done her best to move on from that harrowing day that changed her life forever, including ridding herself of any visible reminders her of her ex-fiance. Though the emotional damage is obviously has been very much engraved.

“War Machine” faces 34 felony charges that carry a potential sentence of life behind bars.
