Former UFC title challenger, Glover Teixeira, doesn’t see himself re-matching Jon Jones in the near future.
It has been almost three years since Glover Teixeira challenged Jon Jones for the light heavyweight championship back at UFC 172. Much has changed in both his and Jones’ careers since that fight, and as Teixeira told Tatame, he doesn’t believe he’ll ever get a chance to rematch Jones again.
“About the fight, there’s still much to consider,” Teixeira said. “I don’t even know what Jones is up to right now. To be honest, I don’t even think about him that much. Jones is enjoying his money, his moment. I think he doesn’t care about the UFC, to tell you the truth.”
If Jon Jones ever comes back to the Octagon, though, Glover would be more than willing to meet him again.
“I think he’ll be back, because he’s a young guy,” Teixeira said. “Like I said before, who knows? Maybe we can have a rematch. Especially if I win my next fight. We’re at the top and anything can happen.”
Glover Teixeira is expected to take on Jared Cannonier at UFC 208, on February 11, in New York. The card will be headlined by the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight championship fight between former bantamweight champion Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie.
