Midnight Mania! Watch UFC 208 headliner Germaine De Randamie knock a man out

Bringing you the weird and the wild from the world of MMA each and every night …

Welcome to Midnight Mania! Tonight, we’ve got UFC 208’s headliner, a.k.a. “The Iron Lady,” knocking out actors, reminiscing about Anderson Silva, men who should be reminiscing (but instead beating each other down in retirement homes), updates on UFC commentary this weekend now that Goldberg is gone, chokes, knockouts, Cody McKenzie losing badly in bareknuckle boxing, Snoop Dogg interviewing Nick Diaz, and more.

Germaine De Randamie, who fights 18-time women’s boxing champion Holly Holm this Saturday at UFC 208 for the inaugural women’s featherweight title, once knocked out a male in a boxing match, per BleacherReport.com. The man was an actor from Belgium named Tom Waes, and the stunt was part of his television show, Tomtesteron, which saw him take on various challenges, including training three months to take on De Randamie. The knockout below came in the third round:

Bobs and Weaves

Ariel Helwani spilled on who will be the new broadcast team to fill the departed shoes of Mike Goldberg. I approve of the choices — John Anik is a logical pick for play-by-play, and Daniel Cormier adds a layer of depth thanks to his personal experience in the cage.

Anik + Rogan + Cormier. The return of the 3 man booth. Fun trio. https://t.co/IcQLjoR7Zj

Anderson Silva faces an aggressive, potentially stifling wrestler this weekend in Derek Brunson. And that historically has been a very difficult match up for him.

Remember when Chael Sonnen outstruck Anderson fucking Silva?https://t.co/DK7ZP7Fp6J

Chael’s surprising, testosterone-fueled success, of course, was so incredible because “The Spider” possessed near-mythical striking skills honed over a long and illustrious career

Speaking of long and illustrious careers, Cody McKenzie has been the complete opposite. His latest loss, not his first knockout because of body shots, seems to have come in the bare-knuckle boxing circuit, courtesy of Irish middleweight champion Jimmy Sweeney, who reminds one of McGregor himself as he speaks after the win with the Irish colours draped over his shoulders.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is talking trash on Snapchat to old opponent and fellow Polish native Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Speaking of women’s strawweight, Street Fighter really liked Angela Hill’s depiction of Sagat at the weigh-ins before her recent “Fight of the Night” with Jessica Andrade. Looks like she may have scored an unintended sponsorship out of it, too. Not a bad consolation prize to go along with her 50K in bonus money

Congrats @AngieOverkill on your #POTN bonus! You also deserve a reward for your #SFV weigh-ins, Please DM us! Looking forward to next time!

Podcasts and Video

Snoop Dogg and Nick Diaz shoot the breeze — here’s the full episode, posted by Merry Jane, the main thing Diaz and Snoop have in common. Diaz was even in a commercial advertising rolling paper, and it’s good to see that Diaz is finding other things to do, as badly as the fans and UFC brass want to see him back in the cage.

  • “Big” Ben Rothwell and Fabricio Werdum will face off at UFC 211, joining the heavyweight title fight that presumably will headline the Dallas card, a rematch between Stipe Miocic and Junior Dos Santos. This was a turning point in their first fight:

  • Former Mickey Gall opponent Mike Jackson has called out the other Mickey Gall opponent, C.M. Punk, to find out who the real can is. Being familiar with Jackson from the local Houston scene, and having watched some of his pro boxing fights, my money is on him.
  • This Naked Gambler breakdown of the Korean Zombie’s KO and rear hand uppercut KOs in general is excellent.
  • McGregor’s fans go crazy for him in Ireland!
