Former title challengers, Claudia Gadelha and Karolina Kowalkiewicz are to meet, according to Gadelha
The last two strawweight title contenders are scheduled to meet, at least according to one of them. Combate reports that Claudia Gadelha will meet Karolina Kowalkiewicz in a future, undisclosed UFC event, with Gadelha herself breaking the news.
At 28 years of age, Claudia Gadelha (14-2) has only lost to Joanna Jedrzejczyk in her entire career, both in very close fights. She bounced back from her last loss with a unanimous decision win against Cortney Casey, in November 2016. During her UFC run, Gadelha also defeated Jessica Aguilar and Tina Lahdemaki.
Karolina Kowalkiewicz (10-1) was undefeated until she met Joanna Jedrzejczyk back in November 2016, when the champion defeated her by unanimous decision. Before the loss, she was in a three-fight winning streak in the UFC, with wins over Randa Markos, Heather Jo Clark and Rose Namajunas.
Although Gadelha said she would fight Kowalkiewicz next, she didn’t specify a date, a venue or an event for the fight.
