Cris Cyborg says she was expecting whoever came out on top to duck her following UFC 208.
Crisitiane Justino was watching closely as Germaine de Randamie and Holly Holm went at it for the inaugural UFC female featherweight title at UFC 208. When the now champion, Germaine de Randamie, said she would have to take care of a hand injury before accepting a fight with Justino, Cyborg already knew she was being ducked.
As Justino told Combate, she was already expecting that to happen.
“That was something me and my team were already expecting to happen. Whoever won that title was going to retire or anything else that would make them keep the title for as long as possible. We were prepared for that.
“As soon as they said I was the next challenger, Germaine started talking about having to have surgery on her hand. That changes nothing, I’m the world champion whether or not I fight for the belt.”
Cris Cyborg is 2-0 in her UFC career having stopped both Leslie Smith and Lina Lansberg by TKO. She is currently dealing with a USADA situation though, and that could impede her ability to fight for the belt as well.
