The Nevada State Athletic Commission has agreed to a new hearing regarding Conor McGregor’s bottle throwing fine

Conor McGregor is headed to Las Vegas and the first order of business is clearing up that hefty fine for throwing bottles leading up to UFC 202.

Conor McGregor is on his way to Las Vegas to try and set up his superfight with Floyd Mayweather, and part of that includes a meeting with the Nevada State Athletic Commission to clear up fines he received for his part in the bottle throwing brawl with Nate Diaz leading up to their UFC 202 rematch.

“There’s a lot of business to settle in Las Vegas,” McGregor said at his ‘An Experience With Conor McGregor’ event in Manchester two weeks ago. “They tried to fine me $150,000 for throwing a bottle,” said the UFC featherweight champion. “I didn’t even think it was a real court. I was like this isn’t a real court. This isn’t like legal. They just wanted a little respect. I went in and showed my respect.”

“Look, I’m not going to try and point fingers, who threw what first. I just owned up, manned up and said I f**ked up. I won’t do it again. [NSAC Commissioner] Pat Lundvall was like ‘So you’ll accept any fine that I give you?’ I’m like yeah. And then $150,000 fine, all in favor say I. Boom, boom, boom, they started hitting the gavel. I was like, what the f**k is going on here? $150,000?”

“Ah no, look I’m gonna f**k this whole s**t up again. I love the Vegas commission. We’ve come to an understanding. I’m gonna fly out there and fix it. I’m gonna get my Las Vegas boxing license and then we’ll see where the f**k Floyd’s at!”

At this point we shouldn’t be doubting Mystic Mac when he declares how the future will go. He’s laid out exactly how he plans to put together a superfight with Floyd Mayweather, and step one is clearing things up with the commission. And that’s exactly what he’s doing. Per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto:

Back in October, the NSAC handed down their punishment for the bottle throwing brawl: McGregor got a $75,000 fine and was asked to do a public service announcement campaign worth $75,000, as well as 50 hours of community service. His opponent Nate Diaz received a $50,000 fine.

Shortly after receiving the fine, McGregor made statements implying he’d refuse to pay and refuse to fight in Vegas again, but that was before he learned that Floyd Mayweather only fights in Nevada. Now it sounds like he’s just looking to cut down the amount of money they’re getting out of him. Will they agree to adjust the fine considering the amount of money a McGregor vs Mayweather fight would bring? Or are they gonna bend him over a barrel since they know the fight won’t happen anywhere else?
