Valerie Letourneau confirmed to fans on her Instagram page that she’s no longer with the UFC.
After suffering her third consecutive defeat, strawweight Valerie Letourneau’s days in the UFC are (at least for now) over. Letourneau announced the news to fans on her Instagram page.
Letourneau (8-6) debuted in the UFC in 2014, winning by split decision over Elizabeth Phillips at UFC 174 in a bantamweight bout. “Trouble” dropped down to strawweight, where wins over Jessica Rakoczy and Maryna Maroz netted her a title shot against Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 193 in November 2015. The Canadian lost to the reigning champion by unanimous decision.
In June 2016, Letourneau fought Joanne Calderwood in the first ever women’s flyweight bout in UFC history, but suffered a third-round TKO loss. Letourneau’s most recent fight came in December, when she missed weight and dropped a lackluster split decision to newcomer Viviane Pereira.
Letourneau is currently #15 in the UFC’s official 115 lbs rankings, but obviously she’ll be removed from shortly, and join a growing list of fighters who have recently departed the UFC.
