Bantamweights Aljamain Sterling and Augusto Tanquinho will square off on April 15.
An intriguing match up of bantamweights has been added to the next Fox card event, as AG Fight announced that seventh ranked Aljamain Sterling will take on Augusto Mendes in Kansas City.
Aljamain Sterling (12-2) had a perfect record up until his last two performances, when he suffered a couple of split decision losses to the likes of Raphael Assuncao and Bryan Caraway, which make the not so active fighter winless since December 2015, when he finished Johnny Eduardo with a guillotine choke.
A Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion, Augusto Mendes (6-1) had a rough UFC debut facing now champion, Cody Garbrandt, on short notice. He ended up losing the fight by first-round knockout, but bounced with a split decision win over Frankie Saenz on January.
Aljamain Sterling will fight Augusto Mendes at UFC on Fox 24, in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 15. The card will be headlined by a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and contender Wilson Reis.
