Muhammed Lawal tells Rampage Jackson that he’s going to ‘hump’ him for five rounds in their rematch next week.
With just over one week to go, Muhammed Lawal sent a shocking warning to Quinton Jackson ahead of their rematch at Bellator 175.
According to Lawal, who lost to Rampage via unanimous decision in 2014, the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion is going to ‘hump’ Jackson’s leg for fifteen minutes at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois next Friday.
“I don’t have to change much at all,” Lawal said during Wednesday’s conference call, per Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie. “My skills have improved. I’ve added more to my skill set, and he’s going to see. I’m not going to change much at all. He’s worried about wrestling? Well, Quinton, work that sprawl good. Work that sprawl well. Guess what? I’m going to hump your leg for 15 minutes. How bout that?
“I’m going to hump your legs for 15 minutes. So work on your sprawls and work on them real hard.”
King Mo, a multiple time Senior freestyle wrestling champion, utilized heavily grappling against Jackson in their first bout at Bellator 120 but lost in a controversial decision.
Jackson, a heavy handed fighter with multiple KO’s to his resume, prefers to stand and bang and is likely training to counter Lawal’s wrestling and takedowns.
The 36-year-old insisted that he is going to take Jackson down at will until he falls in love with the grappling aspect of MMA.
“I’m just going to get more takedowns – that’s it – just more takedowns,” Lawal said. “I’m going to take him down over and over again until he loves that ground. That’s all it’s going to be.”
Their heavyweight bout at Bellator 175 takes place next Friday, March 31, at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
