Alexander Gustafsson (17-4) returns this weekend in front of a hometown crowd to battle fellow Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira (26-5) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 109 inside Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, on Sun., May 28, 2017, live on FOX Sports 1.
Gustafsson, 30, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jan Blachowicz at UFC Fight Night 93. The former 205-pound title challenger remains one of the very best fighters in the division, but after losing title shots to both Jon Jones and current champion Daniel Cormier, the Swedish striker needs to string a few wins together to earn his third shot at UFC gold.
Teixeira, 37, just manhandled former heavyweight Jared Cannonier at UFC 208 to the tune of a unanimous decision. Before that, the Brazilian suffered a crushing knockout defeat to Anthony Johnson in just 13 seconds. Teixeira is also one of the best fighters at 205 pounds, but he has a longer road ahead before being considered for another title shot, having lost to Jones back in 2014.
