When “you didn’t hurt me!” goes horribly wrong.
Massive congratulations are in order for Dominick Reyes, who knocked out Jordan Powell on the main card of Legacy Fighting Alliance 13 on Friday. Let me just cut to the chase and show you the head kick that turned Powell’s lights out.

Incredibly violent finish by Reyes, but let’s rewind a few seconds and see what Powell did right before Dominick destroyed him.
Pffffff. Amazing head kick KO by Dominick Reyes. That head shake…. #LFA13 pic.twitter.com/jnoL6WEndq

Well there we go. He shook his head no, and Reyes celebrated by by nodding back with a yes. Powell didn’t last 53 seconds and wound up on the wrong end of a knockout of the year candidate. And we’re only a few months removed from Joe Harding doing some mid-fight showboating and also eating a fight-ending head kick for his troubles.
It’s just about up there with Matt Wiman shaking his head just before Spencer Fisher crushed him with a flying knee back at UFC 60. When talking combat sports in general, my personal favorite instance of cockiness backfiring is what Robbie Peden did to Nate Campbell.
Anyway, Reyes improves to 6-0 and that’s his fifth finish. His nickname is fittingly, “The Devastator.” Powell drops to 8-7 and this was one hell of a way to get knocked out for the first time in his professional career.
