Check out the sixth and final episode of Embedded for UFC 212.
UFC 212 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the fifth episode for this weekend’s big show in Rio, and it serves as a brief introduction to the four fighters that make up the top of the card. It shows a few others as well.
It’s Ultimate Media Day. Claudia Gadelha talks about how she came up with a martial arts and jiu-jitsu philosophy, so she always respects her opponents. Karolina Kowalkiewicz has a pretty funny line in the elevator after things – “I want (to) smash her face really, really bad…and I like her dress. She look really nice.”
Karolina is the best.
UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo talks about evolving his game, because everyone studies the champ and tries to figure him out. Max Holloway says he respects his opponent, but he’s going to fight him. Confidence is key. He’s then shown doing some sparring, propping up teammate and fellow UFC 212 fighter Yancy Medeiros, and ends up doing a little PPV pimping at the end.
Aldo’s coach Andre Pederneiras talks about trusting your coach and team, and how Aldo will handle his weight cut. Gadelha and her team go over her weight cut as well, which she has gotten a lot better at. She reminds everyone of her butt disappearing, or her “bird butt”. Kowalkiewicz talks about all the great food she’s going to eat after she weighs in.
Then it’s official weigh-in time. All four of the top-of-the-card fighters make weight rather easily. They immediately cut to Holloway, who asks “where’s my cupcakes?” and there’s a guy behind him with at least five full containers of them. Max is a happy man.
Ceremonial weigh-ins. Some intense but respectful staredowns. We’re all ready for UFC 212. As Holloway says, let’s do the damn thing!
