UFC Fight Night 111 results: Next matches to make for ‘Holm vs Correia’ main card winners

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to action for UFC Fight Night 111: “Holm vs. Correia,” which went down yesterday (Sat., June 17, 2017) inside Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, airing live on UFC Fight Pass. The promotion’s latest mixed martial arts (MMA) card was headlined by a women’s Bantamweight fight that saw Holly Holm defeat Bethe Correia via knockout in the third round (see it). Also, Marcin Tybura picked up the biggest win of his career by outlasting Andrei Arlovski in the co-headlining act (recap).

Winner: Holly Holm

Who She Should Fight Next: Julianna Pena

Despite getting back on he winning track, I don’t think Holly is ready for another title shot just yet, as I believe Racquel Pennington — who has won four straight — should be in line to face the winner of Amanda Nunes and Valentine Schevchenko. For Holly, a fight against top-ranked Pena is more appealing to me. Pena currently sits three spots ahead of Holly in the rankings, and most recently came up short against Schevchenko. Both women have proven to have an appetite to let the action play out on the feet, so, not only would it be appealing to fight fans, it will give the victor a fast track to the big dance.

Winner: Marcin Tybura

Who He Should Fight Next: Winner of Travis Browne and Oleksiy Oliynyk

After picking up the biggest win of his MMA career over longtime veteran and former champion, Andrie Arlovski, Marcin should finally crack the top 10. With three straight wins under his belt, Marcin should be an interested observer come July 8, as I’d like to see him face off against the winner of the Browne vs Oliynyk bout at UFC 213 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both heavy hitters could provide a stiff test for Marcin, but more importantly, shoot him further up the rankings. Sure, many won’t give Tybura all of the credit he deserves for taking out Arlovski, seeing as how “The Pitbull” has lost his previous four prior to their showdown, but a win is a win and Marcin should take it all in and enjoy it.

Winner: Colby Covington

Who He Should Fight Next: Rafael dos Anjos

After taking out longtime Octagon veteran Dong Hyun Kim in main card action, “Chaos’” confidence burst through the roof, taking the opportunity to warn division champion Tyron Woodley. Interestingly enough, however, is that Colby called out former Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, who made his successful welterweight debut earlier in the card against Tarec Saffiedine. To hear Covington tell the story, “RDA” has been ducking him for some time now. Sure, Colby isn’t ranked at the moment, but that will all change later this week. And since Rafael got a taste of what the bigger boys at 170 bring, I’d like to see him face Covington. Colby wants it, obviously, and I highly doubt the Brazilian bomber will turn any fight down. Still, it could be a case of “be careful what you wish for” for Covington, as dos Anjos, despite his recent skid, is as dangerous as they come. That said, you have to admire Colby’s confidence, wanting to take on nothing but the best. And if he feels he can break the champion in half, then he should have no issues with dos Anjos. Right?
