Coach: Conor McGregor is three weeks away from being able to beat Floyd Mayweather

Conor McGregor’s training camp for Floyd Mayweather continues and his coach John Kavanagh is sharing how things are developing.

Things seem to be going well for Conor McGregor in his preparation for his big Floyd Mayweather boxing match on August 26th. That’s according to his head coach John Kavanagh, who visited the MMA Hour today to update the world on how camp is developing. For those worried that two months wouldn’t be enough time for Conor to figure out Floyd, take a listen to this.

“We have two more weeks in Ireland, then the guys will head to Las Vegas,” Kavanagh said. “We’ll then have six week in Vegas before the fight, but I watched the session today and said we would be ready in three weeks.”

That probably sounds crazy, like Conor and his team are not taking this seriously. But as far as the guys at Straight Blast Gym are concerned, they’re in their element when the world is looking at them like they’re completely delusional.

“We’ve always done best when everybody is just mocking the idea of an unknown Dublin guy saying he’s going to take on the whole UFC roster and win the belt,” Kavanagh continued. “Those challenges seem to bind us even closer than we already are. I’m really seeing that spirit lit up in the team. It’s always there, but for whatever reason, because we’re being laughed at, because we’re being mocked, it’s making us even stronger.”

And if things don’t work out too well for Conor in the fight, he’s already got redemption in the Octagon pencilled in.

“He’s said to me ‘Get ready in December.'” Kavanagh revealed.
