Michael Bisping is back with another hot take, this time on why Fedor Emelianenko does so poorly when fighting in America.
Michael Bisping may be an unlikely UFC middleweight champion in the eyes of many fans, but he’s always been a champion of the hot take. That ability has only been enhanced as his podcast ‘Believe You Me’ continues to grow. And would you imagine there’s a demand for controversial comments? The more controversial the things he says, the more listeners he gains!
His last episode dealt with the motherf**kers comparing him to recently stripped champ Germaine de Randamie. Today’s controversial statement: there was a reason Fedor Emelianenko lost so badly at Bellator: NYC.
“The reason for it is very, very simple,” he said. “Steroids. I hate to be the guy that bangs on about it all the time, but that’s why guys who came over from Pride lost. Listen, I know that Pride – by the way this is third hand information – that they used to encourage taking steroids. They wanted them to look a certain way.
“They weren’t bothered, there was no drug testing and they wanted them to take steroids so it was more appealing to the Japanese audience. Of course when they come over to America they get drug tested so they don’t take those drugs.”
“I’m not saying it’s gospel, that Fedor was taking them,” Bisping finished. “But I’d say all signs point to that direction. Anytime he came over to America, he didn’t do well. Even Mirko Cro Cop was the same.”
Fedor has never had a body that raised much suspicion, but then again neither did his former protege, training partner, and fellow chubby chub Kirill “Baby Fedor” Sidelnikov. That didn’t stop Sidelnikov from testing positive for Stanozolol following his lone North American fight. That’s just to point out that not every steroid using fighter is going to look carved out of marble.
So what do you think, Maniacs? Is Fedor looking a step behind because of a lack of performance enhancing drugs, or is this just old age finally catching up with the former GOAT?
