Colby Covington isn’t thrilled that two fighters he wants to fight, Rafael dos Anjos and Neil Magny, were recently booked to fight each other in September.
Colby Covington had his eyes set on Rafael dos Anjos and Neil Magny, but unless he chooses to sit out and wait, he won’t be fighting either man in his next Octagon outing.
Dos Anjos and Magny were recently booked to fight at UFC 215 in Edmonton, AB, Canada in September, which Covington, one of the most vocal welterweights on the UFC roster, isn’t too happy about.
“It’s an embarrassment-tour elimination bout,” Covington told BloodyElbow.com. “Real winner is whoever loses and runs off to hide from me in Bellator. Winner gets to wait their turn to be embarrassed.”
Covington isn’t high on either dos Anjos or Magny, but if he has to side with one, he’s picking the former lightweight champ.
“It’s a pretty even fight between two guys at the end of their careers. But probably RDA,” he said.
Since dos Anjos vs. Magny was announced earlier this week, Covington has moved on to targeting other fighters in his weight class, including Carlos Condit. He also had an exchange with Kamaru Usman, but appears no longer interested with The Ultimate Fighter 21 winner because of where he stands in the rankings.
I see @CarlosCondit moving up them @ufc welterweight ranks while career debating on the sidelines. Where you at old man? #retirementtour https://t.co/1Oh4cPkLSx

Cause he fights nobodies then thinks he’s tough. It’s well documented and old matchmaker #joesilva knows @USMAN84kg ducked me for years. https://t.co/M83xcz6Elj

Covington has an impressive 7-1 record in the UFC. Most recently, he defeated Dong Hyun Kim by decision in Singapore. His current four-fight winning streak also includes stoppages over Max Griffin and Jonathan Meunier. His lone pro loss was a submission to Warlley Alves.
