Jon Jones: Potential Brock Lesnar fight equivalent to Mayweather vs McGregor
Jon Jones has gone on record saying he was inspired by Conor McGregor to look for bigger paydays that once seemed impossible in mixed martial arts (MMA). And since “Notorious” is set to cash in with the biggest payday of his career against Floyd Mayweather on Aug. 26, 2017, “Bones” took a page out of the “Notorious” playbook by calling out Brock Lesnar.
As Jones sees it, a fight between him and “The Beast Incarnate” is equal to the “Money Fight” between Floyd and Conor.
“I think I was inspired by Conor McGregor, to be honest with you. To just dare and to reach, reach higher. Me versus Brock Lesnar is somewhat equivalent to Mayweather and McGregor,” added Jones.
“A lot of people would assume that I would lose that fight. Brock Lesnar is super athletic. He was a Division-1 national wrestling champion. Yeah, he’s older but he’s just a freak. He’s a rare talent. I don’t know what the betting odds would be on that one.”
Jones recently defeated Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 214 to reclaim the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight title. Ever since, “Bones” has been throwing it out there that he’s interested in taking on the former Heavyweight champion.
As for the magnitude of a mixed martial arts (MMA) fight between Lesnar and Jones, do you believe it’s up to par with the Mayweather vs. McGregor boxing match?
