Before Demetrious Johnson steps into the Octagon to potentially make history against Ray Borg in the main event of UFC 215 on Sept. 9, 2017 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, take a trip back to one of “Mighty Mouse’s” most dominant performances.
Back in 2015, Johnson headlined UFC 186 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada against Kyoji Hiroguchi. In what proved to be an entertaining scrap, Johnson was his usual dominant self for five rounds of action. On the cusp of earning a clear-cut unanimous decision, Johnson turned it up a notch in the closing seconds of the fight, catching Kyoji in armbar that forced him to tap with one second left in the fight.
The win was Johnson’s six straight title defense, and will now go for a record-breaking eleventh defense when he faces Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA-trained fighter Ray Borg. In the co-main event, women’s Bantamweight title holder Amanda Nunes will defend her title against Valentina Shevchenko.
A heavyweight title fight between Junior dos Santos and Francis Ngannou was recently scrapped after “JDS” was notified of a potential United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) violation.
