Midnight Mania! Tony Ferguson aimed for Kevin Lee’s staph infection … then took 50 showers

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight …

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Tony Ferguson spoke with TMZ and said Kevin Lee’s staph infection didn’t deter him in the slightest during UFC 216’s pay-per-view (PPV) main event this past weekend (Sat., Oct. 7, 2017) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In fact, he saw it as a target.

“I wasn’t sure what it was — something protruding from his chest. I was like, ‘Well sh*t, just aim for that sh*t.'”

Don’t get it twisted — he did think it was disgusting. So much so that his trainer bought him anti-bacterial soap afterward and he has taken “like 50 showers” since then. He just wasn’t about to let anything deter him from taking home his UFC interim lightweight title.

He did say to take this as a lesson: Clean your mats, gym owners.

Mark Hunt isn’t happy about being pulled from his upcoming UFC fight and has words for Dana White. A lot of words, many of them the four-letter variety.

An excerpt from his last post:

. “I’m disappointed that I have been withdrawn from the fight, I have passed all medicals 2 days ago. And spent 100,000 on camp. The truth is the legal case I have filed has caused me to be withdrawn. The interview has been taken out of context and want to reassure all my fans, I slur my words only when I have a drink I’m fit and healthy, and would have understood if the UFC requested a medical to ensure my safety, however this is total bullshit fuck you Dana, you’ve always hated me you dog”

There are two ways to look at this: one is that fighters should have more protection from their fights being cancelled. The other is that Mark Hunt wrote this piece prior to being pulled from the bout; the headline “If I die fighting, that’s fine” isn’t going to fly with any sports commission paying attention.

UFC pulled Hunt from the Sydney show after this piece he wrote about brain issues.

On that topic, Rico Verhoeven vs. Bigfoot Silva should never be happening.

Odds for Rico/Bigfoot:

Antonio Silva +1050
Rico Verhoeven -2150

Shambles of a fight.

At least Cormier recognizes when he’s met his match

This cord smashed me. 10-8 round the wrong way for me. Lol https://t.co/itnNB66H1l

— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) October 9, 2017

There is nothing new under the sun; Eddie Bravo points out that Demetrious Johnson’s amazing suplex-armbar looks very similar to this old Gracie instructional.

Tony Ferguson is out here mixing it up with EVERYONE on Twitter. He made fun of Daniel Cormier, pointed out that he already weighs over 200 pounds just two days after fighting at 155, and then said he would beat Tyron Woodley in the 40-year dash. That was after he tweeted at Pauli Malignaggi. It has been a full weekend for “El Cucuy”.

Will Brooks is saying he DID get paid by the UFC. My point yesterday remains that the UFC is not contractually obligated to do that.

With my track record of being open and honest. If I didn’t get paid I’d be the first to say something. So don’t believe everything you see https://t.co/QJDO7wuPiW
