Today is the final quarterfinal match-up in the World Boxing Super Series tournament. For this fight, we turn to the Super Middleweight bracket for a battle between Juergen Braehmer and Rob Brant. Winner moves on to the semi-finals and a match with Callum Smith.
Braehmer is coming off an uninspiring world title run at Light Heavyweight that ended with a loss to Nathan Cleverly one year ago. He has not fought since. The 39 year old is dropping down in weight for this tournament. Brant is an undefeated fighter with just 5 years pro experience. He has heavy hands, but has yet to fight any noteworthy opponents. This is a big opportunity for him if he can get past the veteran, especially on Braehmer’s home turf in Germany. Odds are virtually even, with Brant a very minor favorite.
Braehmer vs. Brant airs live today Friday, October 26. The card has a fight time of 3:30 p.m. ET. WBSS fights have not been always easy to watch; in the US it will be on the Audience network and you can check the WBSS website for streaming options as well. We’ll have results and discussion right here.
