Up-and-coming flyweight bruiser Sijara Eubanks was cutting weight for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 26 live finale on Friday night (Dec. 1, 2017) in Las Vegas, Nevada, and somewhere along the way, things went off the rails.
Badly.
As a result, Eubanks was sent to the hospital and unable to make weight. Taking her place in the TUF 26 Finale five-round headliner will be Roxanne Modafferi, who meets season finalist Nicco Montano.
UFC released a statement to MMA Junkie:
“Due to medical issues, Sijara Eubanks, was hospitalized Thursday morning and has been pulled from her bout against Nicco Montano at Friday’s The Ultimate Fighter Finale. Stepping in for Eubanks to fight in the inaugural UFC women’s flyweight championship bout will be Ultimate Fighter 26 semifinalist Roxanne Modafferi.”

Eubanks had her share of weight-cutting issues during her run on the FOX Sports 1 reality show; however, they appeared to be corrected for her semifinal bout, thanks to assistance from UFC Performance Institute.
Speaking of the semifinals, that’s where Eubanks defeated Modafferi by unanimous decision, but none of that matters now, as she was unable to hold up her end of the bargain at today’s weigh ins.
Modafferi was originally expected to face Barb Honchak, who is currently negotiating with UFC for a new main card opponent.
Stay tuned.
