Take a look at all the changes in this week’s UFC fighter rankings.
The UFC’s event in Fresno had a couple of intriguing fights from a rankings perspective, and helped to figure out a few more things in a new division. Brian Ortega and Marlon Moraes both picked up huge stoppage wins and each are now ranked in the top five in their respective weight classes. Women’s flyweight has a new fighter in the top three. And without further ado, let’s get to the rest of this week’s changes.
P4P – Amanda Nunes was tied for 12 with Robert Whittaker, but now she has the 13 spot on her own.
Heavyweight – No changes.
Light Heavyweight – No changes.
Middleweight – Georges St-Pierre giving up his title due to colitis saw him drop from the champ spot to the number three contender. Whittaker is now the full champ, with Yoel Romero and Luke Rockhold moving up one slot to the number one and two contender spots respectively.
Welterweight – Kamaru Usman moved up one spot to 11, bumping Neil Magny to 12.
Lightweight – No changes.
Featherweight – Ortega’s big win over Cub Swanson pushed him up two spots to four. Swanson dropped one to five, and Chan Sung Jung dropped one to six. Calvin Kattar entered the rankings for the first time at 15.
Bantamweight – Moraes entered the top five for the first time after his KO win over Aljamain Sterling, moving up two spots to five. John Lineker and Bryan Caraway dropped one each to six and seven. Sterling dropped one to nine, allowing John Dodson to move up one to eight.
Flyweight – No changes.
Women’s Bantamweight – A big fight between two former 135ers at flyweight caused a rumble in the rankings of both divisions. Germaine de Randamie inexplicably moved up four spots to five. Ketlen Vieira moved up one to seven. Ronda Rousey dropped three spots to eight. Sara McMann fell one spot into a tie with Rousey at eight. Marion Reneau, Katlyn Chookagian, Bethe Correia, and Leslie Smith all moved up two spots each, taking 10-13 respectively. Aspen Ladd makes the rankings for the first time at 14. Sarah Moras comes back in at 15.
Women’s Flyweight – Alexis Davis’ win over Liz Carmouche sends her right into the three spot at 125. This drops Roxanne Modafferi, Barb Honchak, and Montana De La Rosa one spot each to four, five, and six. Mara Borella is up one to eight. Carmouche enters 125 at number nine. Jessica-Rose Clark drops two spots to ten. Shana Dobson, Gillian Robertson, Kalindra Faria, Melinda Fabian, and Bec Rawlings all fall one spot each, taking up 11 through 15.
Women’s Strawweight – No changes.
