UFC 219 results: Cris Cyborg wants Megan Anderson next, but Amanda Nunes can get it, too

Like Anderson Silva before her, Cris Cyborg isn’t too fond of fighting fellow Brazilian’s if there’s a crop of fighters on the UFC roster she can face instead. The problem with the women’s Featherweight division is that the roster just isn’t deep enough.

It’s downright bare.

That said, Cyborg says if current UFC women’s Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes really wants to get into the cage and tussle, she’d be open to the match, but would rather fight current Invicta FC 145-pound champion Megan Anderson.

“I always say I don’t like to fight someone Brazilian, but if she wants to fight me, I will fight anybody Dana White put in front of me,” said Cris during the post-fight press conference shortly after defeating Holly Holm at UFC 219 in Las Vegas, Nevada (highlights).

Nunes made her desire to face the victor known prior to the event, which Dana White — surprisingly — was open to. For Cris, another reason she’d prefer to face Megan instead of Nunes first is to grow the Featherweight division.

“I say Megan Anderson because she is 145 pounds. I want my division growing. It’s growing fast and you need to put the girls at 145. I do think she is in line to fight for the belt,” she added.

Cris and Megan were set to collide earlier this year at UFC 214 before undisclosed reasons forced Anderson out. As for when she’ll return to action, Cris says that is unclear at the moment, since her hand is a bit busted up from hitting Holly’s head.

“I don’t know in six weeks because my hand hurt, Holly’s head is very hard. I dont know if in six weeks, but a little bit,” she concluded.
