There’s no quit in Robbie Lawler, and he proved it once again during his UFC on FOX 26 fight.
As if taking a largely one sided beating at the hands of Rafael dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 26 wasn’t bad enough, Robbie Lawler also suffered some injuries that are going to put a damper on his 2018.
UFC president Dana White revealed in an interview with Yahoo! Sports that Lawler tore his ACL and meniscus during the December 16th fight, which he lost via five round decision.
”The guy’s leg was destroyed,” White said. “Blew his ACL and his meniscus and every other thing that’s in your knee out in like the third round. Wobbled over to the fence, laid against it, and asked dos Anjos to come in so that they could just bang it out. Robbie Lawler went to the fifth round.”
That’s just the kind of madman Robbie Lawler is. Unfortunately, that kind of stubbornness probably resulted in way more damage to his knee than if he’d done the sane thing and called things off between rounds. As it stands, the injury is looking like it will keep Lawler out of the cage for the first half of 2018.
