As expected, a betting site has pegged Conor McGregor as a huge favorite over Floyd Mayweather should they ever step into the Octagon.
After their megafight last August, it seemed like Conor McGregor might try to angle for a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. After all, Conor didn’t like the 10th-round stoppage that lost him the boxing bout, and they made a truckload of money from the second-highest selling PPV of all time. Even though Floyd made passing mention at the time that he’d be down for an MMA fight, nearly everyone believed a possible rematch would take place in a boxing ring.
But this is Floyd Mayweather we’re talking about, and he’s never afraid to get people revved up.
Twice in the past little while he has released video of himself entering an MMA cage, leading people to believe he might actually be serious about going into the Octagon to meet McGregor. And since bookies have nothing better to do, Bovada released a line on that possible fight.
It should not surprise you that McGregor is a massive favorite.
McGregor -900
Mayweather +550
That looks like a total reversal of the odds for the first fight around the time it was actually confirmed to be a real thing. But Dana White says the rematch only makes sense in the Octagon, and who are we to argue with the UFC president?
