Max Holloway is at it again, trolling Conor McGregor about his alleged request to fight for a 165-pound title.
A few days ago, Conor McGregor made news when he said he wanted to be a late replacement to fight Frankie Edgar at UFC 222. This led Edgar’s manager to tweet about McGregor’s alleged request for the fight to be for a 165-pound title. McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov was then asked about it, and he said it was “very, very close” to happening, and “plans were in place” for it.
Spoiler – it isn’t happening.
That all seemed sort of far-fetched to me to start with. And it seems that UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway sees it the same way. Holloway decided to send a tweet to MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani making fun of the whole situation, and jokingly claimed to have made his own offer. Then he capped it off with a direct shot at Conor:
One more update @arielhelwani. After I was pulled from 222, I offered to amputate my leg and fight for a 115lb belt against DJ. It was very very close. Plans were in place. But I was told there wasn’t enough time.
Stay blessed,

Holloway’s injury and subsequent removal from the UFC 222 card is what set this whole crazy situation in motion, so it’s fitting that he fires the final (and hilarious) shot here. And this isn’t exactly the first time he’s trolled McGregor on social media.
McGregor will not be fighting at UFC 222 (obviously), but is continuing to negotiate a return to the UFC. In the meantime, Edgar will instead meet top featherweight contender Brian Ortega on Saturday’s card in Vegas. The winner will likely get Holloway when he returns to the Octagon.
