UFC strawweight Cynthia Calvillo has accepted a six-month USADA suspension after testing positive for marijuana.

USADA announced on Wednesday that Calvillo had tested positive for Carboxy-THC, a marijuana metabolite, coming from an in-competition test in relation to her fight at UFC 219 against Carla Esparza, in which she lost by unanimous decision.

Her suspension, which began on December 30th, can be reduced to three months if she completes a USADA-approved drug awareness and management program. Depending on whether Calvillo completes the program, she could be eligible to return to the Octagon as early as March 30th.

The Team Alpha Male fighter Calvillo could also face punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, as her bout with Esparza took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Calvillo (6-1) was undefeated as a professional before losing to Esparza at UFC 219. She notched up three UFC wins in the space of four months in 2017, including a split decision over Joanne Calderwood last July.
