Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will finally collide in the main event of UFC 223 on April 7, 2018 for what will be the undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight title.

It’s a fight three years in the making that has seen the promotion book it three times before only to have it scratched prior to fight night. A lot has happened since then, as Khabib has gone on to add to his undefeated mark while Ferguson became the interim division champion while Conor McGregor seems to have taken a permanent hiatus from the fight game.

And while UFC president Dana White has proclaimed that the winner will be the true division champion, Ferguson believes there is still an undiscovered talent waiting in the wings to challenge for the throne.

“There is always going to be somebody better. I believe that 150-percent, there will always be someone in the jungle kicking down trees,” said “El Cucuy” during a recent media conference call. “There is always going to be somebody better, and I know how to take a loss. Khabib has never lost and he doesn’t know how to bounce off a loss. So I hate to see what that ‘L’ is going to do to him.”

Indeed, “The Eagle” has started off his career with 25 straight win,s proving to many that he is without a doubt one of the best fighters in the world. And though Tony recognizes Nurmagomedov’s talents, he still can’t get past Khabib’s failed weight cut ahead of UFC 209.

“Khabib is a strong challenger, I have to give him that, but in order for that he has to have someone hold his hand in practice, someone to show him how to cut weight,” said a very tasty Ferguson. “He’s a fucking cake eater. He has a silver spoon, cake eater and I am about to take that spoon and hit him over the head with that shit.”

Tiramisu, never again.

To avoid another repeat of that catastrophic night, Nurmagomedov got his health and weight in order and says he is now walking leaner than ever before. Now, all he has to do is hit his mark on weigh-in day to secure that the fourth time will indeed be the charm.

And judging by his previous dominant performance, making the weight seems to be the hard part.
