The road to Bellator 198 continues, as the dream match between Frank Mir (18-11) and Fedor Emelianenko (36-5) comes closer to reality.

The battle between the former PRIDE and UFC champions doesn’t happen for another month, but it’s rather appropriate that the promotion for the event begin to ramp up now. Both heavyweights are shown doing intense training in preparation for their bout, with Frank Mir sharpening his boxing at Floyd Mayweather’s team while Fedor trains at other facilities in his native Russia.

The clip is brief, but has some substance to it. Mir gets in some work on the speed bag, while Fedor is mostly shown getting busy on the heavy bag and thumping it. Both appear to be in similar physical condition to their last fights.

Fedor’s last fight was an unsuccessful outing in June, where he was knocked out by Matt Mitrione at Bellator 180/NYC. Mir suffered back to back losses to Andrei Arlovski (decision) and Mark Hunt (KO) before being suspended by USADA and eventually released from his UFC contract.

Bellator 198 will also feature Bellator mainstay and Roufusport standout Emmanuel Sanchez vs former UFC vet Sam Sicilia, as well as BJJ legend Rafael Lovato Jr. facing John Salter. This card also features the MMA debut of controversial BJJ phenom Dillon Danis.

Bellator 198: Fedor vs Mir takes place on Saturday, April 28th. The event takes place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL and will be transmitted live on the Paramount Network (formerly Spike).
