Are you kidding me with this?
Just 24 hours after Tony Ferguson tore his LCL, forcing him out of his scheduled Lightweight championship bout at this weekend’s (Sat., April 7, 2018) UFC 223 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Brooklyn, N.Y. (details), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has lost another big fight.
Matt Brown unfortunately tore his ACL during training and has been forced to withdraw from his fight against Carlos Condit, which was set to co-headline UFC on FOX 29 on April 14 inside Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
MMA Fighting was the first to report the news.
This is now the second time a proposed fight between Brown and Condit has been cancelled after their original matchup way back in 2013 was axed after “Immortal” suffered a back injury.
As it stands, Condit is hoping the promotion can find a suitable replacement on a little under two weeks notice. If they can find someone to take on Khabib Nurmagomedov in six days, then this should be a breeze.
UFC on FOX 29 will be headlined by a Lightweight scrap featuring Justin Gaethje taking on Dustin Poirier. To see who else is competing at the UFC on FOX 29: “Gaethje vs Poirier” event click here.
