Holly Holm is set to face Megan Anderson at UFC 225 in the first non-title women’s featherweight bout.
The women’s featherweight division may have it’s first non-title fight as former bantamweight champion Holly Holm is rumoured to face UFC debutant Megan Anderson.
Phil Thompson of the Chicago Tribune first reported the matchup on Wednesday. UFC officials are yet to confirm the fight which will take place at UFC 225 in Chicago on June 9th.
Since her historic win over Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 in November 2015, Holm (11-4) has four defeats in her last five fights. “The Preacher’s Daughter” last fought at UFC 219 in December 2017, missing out on featherweight gold when she lost a unanimous decision to Cris Cyborg.
Anderson (8-2) was supposed to make her UFC debut against Cyborg in July 2017. The Australian pulled out of the fight in late June for personal reasons, and Tonya Evinger instead faced Cyborg on the UFC 214 card. The former Invicta FC featherweight champion has rebounded from a submission loss to Cindy Dandois by finishing all of her last four opponents.
UFC 225 will take place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on June 9th. A rematch between UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero will headline the card, whilst a interim welterweight title fight between Rafael Dos Anjos and Colby Covington will serve as the co-main event.
