For Wiz Khalifa, making the transition over from rapping to MMA is going to take a whole lot of money.

If you’ve ever stumbled upon Wiz Khalifa’s social media in the past year or so, you would have realized the 30-year-old rapper frequently posts photos and videos of himself training MMA.

Khalifa, who’s real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, trains at the Unbreakable Performance gym in West Hollywood, California. The founder of that gym, NFL insider and former Fox Sports studio host for the UFC, Jay Glazer, recently told TMZ that Khalifa would “kick ass in pro MMA.”

When TMZ caught up with Khalifa on Monday, he seconded Glazer’s comments, and spoke about why it would take a lot of money for him to step foot into the cage.

“I could [go pro],” he said. “I like rapping better. I wouldn’t be a professional fighter, I’d just fight, know what I’m saying?”

In January, longtime Bellator color commentator Jimmy Smith left the promotion and joined the UFC. Just a week later, Glazer left his role of hosting pre- and post fight shows for the UFC on FOX, and was added to Bellator’s broadcasting team. When asked if he would fight for the UFC or Bellator, Khalifa spoke about why he likes Bellator.

“I like Bellator, I like the organization. They’re super cool and their fights are fun to watch, but like, you got to pay me a whole bunch of money to get me to fight, man.

”I train with the best, all my trainers show me all the best s–t, all the fighters show me hella love, so that s–t’s fun, man.”
