Fedor_training_09One of the worlds leading heavyweights is about to step back into the cage on Feb. 12th. Russian fighter Fedor Emelianenko (32-2, 1NC) will meet Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in the opening quarterfinal of Strikeforce’s heavyweight World Grand Prix tournament.

“The Last Emperor” is coming off his first real defeat at the hands of fellow tournament participant Fabricio Werdum last June, noting after the loss that “The one who doesn’t fall, doesn’t stand up.”

Now he gets a chance at redemption when he meets Silva in the headliner of Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva in East Rutherford, NJ.

“I wanted to finish the fight with Werdum early and I made a mistake. I have moved past this and have been training hard. I can’t wait to fight again. Silva is a great fighter. My training camp has been very strong…I look forward to competing February 12th against Antonio Silva. He is a great athlete. This will be an exciting fight.”
