Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Dana White is planning on taking the opportunity while in Liverpool to sit down with ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor to discuss if and when McGregor will return to combat sports. That conversation will not, however, include any of McGregor’s legal issues, which Dana White now says are his own business. Transcript via MMAFighting.com:
“We’re going to sit down and talk about his future and what’s next.
I have nothing to do with the legal issues, he’ll need to figure that out on his own.”
McGregor got into some legal trouble after hurling a dolly through a UFC charter bus window in Brooklyn prior to UFC 223, injuring multiple fighters, getting put into cuffs and, oddly enough, providing cover for the FBI agents who raided Trump’s lawyer’s office. At the time, Dana White called the event the most despicable thing to happen in UFC history. However, McGregor, the 100-million-dollar man, no longer plays by the same rules as most fighters, so the issue is clearly behind White, though McGregor’s legal team will no doubt continue to clean up behind the superstar for some time.
“Obviously, he has to deal with [his legal situation] in June,” White said. “I’m flying to Liverpool this weekend for a fight there, and he and I are going to meet in Liverpool.”
Liverpool’s own Darren Till and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night 130 this Saturday, live and free on Fox Sports 1.
Insomnia
This is a slapping championship, which seems like possibly an even more painful idea than MMA. I bet the Diaz brothers would clean up in their weight classes though.

The Great and Powerful Georges St. Pierre
A reminder that the UFC wanted 450 million for their new deal, but they were always unlikely to get it.
This new UFC-ESPN TV deal is for substantially less – about 50 percent less – than WME-IMG was hoping for when they bought the UFC, but it’s as much as they could reasonably expect with seriously declining ratings.
