Colby Covington is obviously a Donald Trump fan and supporter. And just like the President of The United States wants to “Make America Great Again,” Covington wants to do the same to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight division.
But that’s not where the similarities between the two ends.
During a recent UFC 225 pre-fight conference call (audio replay here) to promote his upcoming interim title fight against Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 on June 9, 2018, “Chaos” was asked to share his feelings on being dubbed the underdog for the championship fight.
And in true Colby fashion, he brought Trump into the mix once again using perhaps his most-infamous punchline.
“I see the nerds saying I’m an underdog. You know who else was an underdog? The leader of the free nation, Donald Trump. And just like him, I will rule by grabbing these pussies and putting them in their place.”
No further explanation needed.
Winner of five straight, Covington is hoping to not only lock down his first-ever UFC world title (albeit an interim one) with a win in Chicago, Illinois, but perhaps more importantly earn his much-desired showdown against current division champion Tyron Woodley.
“The Chosen One” has already declared he’d like to return to action at UFC 227 on Aug. 4, so if Colby (Or Rafael, for that matter) gets the job done with relative ease in “Chi-Town,” they could be in store for a quick turnaround.
