Is it possible Chuck Liddell, 48, has finally listened to Dana White?
Probably not, as “The Iceman” is more than likely still negotiating his cut of the pay-per-view (PPV) deal with retired boxer-turned-mixed martial arts (MMA) promoter Oscar de la Hoya as they try to get another Tito Ortiz fight off the ground and into living rooms around the globe.
If and when they do, “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” is hoping to pull at least 500,000 buys.
“So what’s the magic number? Is it over 500,000? Will we meet that million number that we did last time me and Chuck fought? You know, we did over 1.4 million pay-per-view buys,” Ortiz told Submission Radio.
But it wasn’t THE HUGEST.
“If we fall right in the middle of that, I would be happy. Chuck of course would be happy and of course De La Hoya would be like, ‘we have started a new game,’ and other fighters will be like, ‘how do I get a part of that? How do I get a piece of that? How do I get into that promotion?’ And talking to me would be the first step.”
If Ortiz needs to talk to someone it should be Liddell, as “The Iceman” has yet to sign the contract. Perhaps the part-time real estate investor needs extra incentive to face a rival he’s already bested — and finished — in two prior outings.
Or maybe Liddell is just not as confident as Ortiz in that 500k number.
