You won’t see this happen very often in any MMA fight, let alone in the UFC.
The highlight of Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night: Dos Santos vs. Ivanov card was by far the unexpected knockout win by welterweight Niko Price, as he put Randy Brown out cold while on his back.
We’ve seen upkicks and elbows lead to knockouts from the bottom position before, but hammerfists? It looks as if the first one actually put Brown out cold, and the rest were just for good measure. An unbelievable sequence, and one of the most astonishing finishes you’ll ever see. Watch the video at the top of the page.
Here’s Tim Burke’s play-by-play of the ending:
Round 2 – Price pressures early with punches and looks for a takedown. Brown looks to secure a choke and it forces Price to his back. Brown stands out of guard. Upkick from Price. Brown dives in with a huge right. Brown gets tied up in Price’s legs and Price starts lighting him up with hammerfists from the bottom. And BROWN IS OUT COLD! HOLY HELL!
Niko Price defeated Randy Brown via TKO (hammerfists from the bottom), round 2
Price has won two straight, including his eighth by knockout, whereas Brown drops to 4-3 in the UFC since being signed off of Dana White’s Lookin’ For a Fight series.
