For reasons not quite explained, the mixed martial arts (MMA) media continues to ask former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, if he’s interested in that Georges St-Pierre (cough) “super fight.”
You know, the one we couldn’t get off the ground back in 2011.
And since I’m a mindless parrot with a hit quota, I will continue to be part of the problem and pass along this latest round of “will he or won’t he” quotes, because it sure beats talking about all that dopey pro wrestling stuff.
“Anything is possible in the UFC, man,” Silva told MMA Fighting. “It’s a very eclectic company, with a broad vision of the sport. They are going through a new moment, a moment of entertainment, so anything can happen. I think he had a good strategy, did a good fight with Bisping.”
He’s right. Anything is possible (because of this).
St-Pierre finally made the trip up to middleweight last November, submitting Michael Bisping for the 185-pound crown. Unfortunately, “Rush” was so adversely affected by the trip north, he needed to surrender his title and return to the 170-pound sidelines.
I guess that means Silva, now 44, will have to make good on that promise to drop to welterweight.
