Bringing you weird and wild from the world of MMA, each and every night of the week
Welcome, to Midnight Mania!
It’s not a secret Brock Lesnar is planning on making his UFC return, but there are always questions with the big man, navigating as he does between the parallel universes of professional wrestling and mixed martial arts. Evidently, with his contract up and no relevant storylines for him, Lesnar has stopped appearing in the WWE and is focusing full-time on preparing for UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.
That’s what Dave Meltzer said, anyway, in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter, via cagesideseats.com:
As far as Lesnar, his WWE contract expires in a few days. He was written out of storylines when Kurt Angle refused to give him his rematch. He was pulled by WWE off the Raw show this past week because nobody could come up with an idea for him that made sense. If he was staying, he could destroy everyone, but they weren’t going to have Strowman beat him since he had no matches left, and he had no matches to build up. He could go crazy and get suspended or fired, but that doesn’t do WWE any good to put more focus on him when he’s got no date to return. He is back training for fighting. He has dropped weight. He is going in with the idea of facing Daniel Cormier for the UFC heavyweight title in early 2019.
The fight makes very little divisional sense, with Curtis Blaydes a proven contender on a 6-fight unbeaten streak, and former champion Stipe Miocic adamant on getting a rematch with Cormier. Lesnar hasn’t officially won an MMA fight since 2010, his last bout with Mark Hunt overturned after he tested positive for anabolic steroids. Nonetheless, it is the fight the UFC are eager to make, as Lesnar always brings a bank-breaking audience willing to shell out the Pay-Per-View (PPV) dollars by the truckload.

Is James Vick alright?
James Vick pauses his media scrum to sit down while he waits for a towel. A bit concerning? Full video: https://t.co/Z6v0AVo4Ot #UFCLincoln pic.twitter.com/xuCUQPaQca

I truly believe Justin Gaethje when he says he has no idea if he’s going to use his wrestling in the cage tomorrow night.
No faking here, @Justin_Gaethje has no respect for James Vick. pic.twitter.com/dWNwb6XKfN

They are being merciful to Zabit Magomedsharipov by not letting him fight John Lineker.
Still no new opponent for Zabit Magomedsharipov. Plan is still to find him a new opponent for 228 and keep him on the card. John Lineker is not an option being considered at this time. Zabit’s team wants to get through 228 and then fight Yair Rodriguez before the year is up.

I’m in! Let’s do it! Call mr. Sean Shelby but we called him. He said you’re too small. But I will fight you. Much respect for stepping up. https://t.co/n46k8gMN9r

McGregor is really stretching here, but it’s a good thing this fight isn’t taking place in Russia.
