Conor McGregor announces the launch of his branded Irish whiskey, Proper Twelve.
Is Conor McGregor a better businessman than he is fighter?
That could very well be the case, as the Irishman has entered the whiskey market with his own brand of Irish whiskey, Proper Twelve. Eire Born Spirits, McGregor’s own alcohol company, plans to launch the Irish blended whiskey in Ireland and the United States later this month. McGregor claims that Proper Twelve has been over three years in the making.
The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion first teased of his own whiskey brand over twelve months ago in Las Vegas, where ‘The Notorious’ was seen sipping on liquor at the MayMac post-fight press conference at the T-Mobile Arena.
McGregor originally wanted to name the whiskey after his own nickname, Notorious, but the 30-year-old entrepreneur had to settle with Proper Twelve after a trademark dispute.
McGregor announced the news on his Instagram on Monday.
With the announcement of his Irish whiskey out of the way, it’s back to the training room for McGregor. The former two-division champ will look to reclaim his lightweight title against the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. The blockbuster pay-per-view takes place next month, October 6 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both fighters will also meet in New York for a pre-fight press conference on Thursday, Sept. 20.
