Ariane Lipski is headed to MMA’s big leagues.
KSW has parted ways with one of its biggest stars.
The Polish promotion did not re-sign women’s flyweight champion Ariane Lipski, KSW co-owner Martin Lewandowski told MMA.pl Sunday. Lipski has signed with the UFC and is set to make her debut against Maryna Moroz at UFC Bueno Aires later this year, Combate reported Sunday. UFC officials have not yet confirmed the news.
Lipski is stepping up on short notice for Veronica Macedo, who was forced off the card due to an injury.
Born in Curitiba, Brazil, Lipski (11-3) started her pro MMA career in 2013. Lipski, 24, lost three of her first five bouts, but since then, she has won nine in a row.
She won the vacant KSW title in 2017 with a first-round submission of Diana Belbi??. She sucecssfully defended the championship twice with wins over Mariana Morais and Silvana Gómez Juárez.
Moroz (8-3) is coming off a decision loss to Angela Hill earlier this year. Before that, she fell to former UFC strawweight champ Carla Esparza. Moroz hasn’t won since a split decision over Danielle Taylor in August 2016. Moroz is moving up to 125 pounds for this fight.
UFC Bueno Aires takes place Nov. 17 at Parque Roca Arena and marks the UFC’s debut in Argentina. In the main event, Neil Magny faces hometown hero Santiago Ponzinibbio.
