Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier, entirely independent of their fight promoter, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), have managed to generate considerable noise around the idea of a super lightweight (or “superfighter”) 165-lb. division, with themselves as the inaugural title fight at UFC 230. With the UFC’s tried-and-true attempt to put together yet another interim title fight between Alexander Gustafsson and Yoel Romero seeming like it has fallen through, the time is now to pull the trigger and make the division.
Hold that noise. I’m 100% down https://t.co/tucv55JMqi

It’s the only additional weight class that makes sense in the UFC; welterweight probably should be bumped up to 175 pounds- which only means fighters in that weight class would cut less weight- and the wealth of talent jammed into two of the UFC’s most talent-deep divisions would get a chance to breathe.
Moreover, Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier are going to bring it. Their fight won’t lack for violence. UFC 230 is a deep card. It deserves a novel and exciting main event.
165lbs don’t be scared ..

Insomnia
Bellator 206 might be the best Bellator card ever- it’s worth the free DAZN trial. Rory Macdonald and Gegard Mousasi could very well be the best welterweight and middleweight fighters in the world- AND we get Aaron Pico, Koreshkov vs. Lima and of course Rampage vs. Wanderlei 4.

The joke lands because it might as well be true. Also, Parkour is still impressive.

People need to stop bothering Daniel Cormier with their nonsense.
Watching this in slow-motion is anxiety inducing.
We should appreciate Charles Oliveira for being the rare action fighter who can make any grappling exchange fun, and has probably never had a boring fight, win or lose.
Yoel Romero says, see you soon boi.
I missed seeing this promo. Kyoji Horiguchi, the best flyweight not in the UFC, pays homage to his late Karate master is incredible.
The RIZIN.11 “You’ll Never Walk Alone” intro. Kyoji Horiguchi presenting his RIZIN Grand Prix title to his dying Karate master (Hirou Nihei) who has since passed away. There’s so much raw emotion going into every fight, I wish more promotions were able to capture it. pic.twitter.com/ZFCNDjQgjF

The pit is a great idea. It eliminates so many issues with the cage.
