When the Governor is seen running from the T-Mobile Arena because he’s afraid for his own safety, you just know there’s going to be hell to pay when the commissioners at Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) report to work on Monday.
That’s according to UFC President Dana White, who was “disgusted” by the post-fight melee that had UFC 229 headliner Khabib Nurmagomedov, fresh off his fourth-round submission win over Conor McGregor, jump into the stands to brawl with his opponent’s jiu-jitsu coach, Dillon Danis.
Watch the insane footage here.
“All hell broke loose,” White said during the UFC 229 post-fight show. “I don’t even know what to say right now. I’m just disgusted and sick over it. God knows what the commission is going to do to Khabib and his guys. Will they even get a visa again to get back in this country? There’s a lot of repercussions from what they did tonight, ones I don’t even think they realize yet.”
McGregor was also jumped during the chaotic scene.
It’s too early to tell what disciplinary action the promotion will take after Nurmagomedov clearly violated the code of conduct. And considering what NSAC did when Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier turned their press conference into a battle royal, “The Eagle” could be in deep doo-doo.
As for “Notorious,” he’ll have to deal with the lopsided defeat (recap) and make a decision to headline UFC 230 like he offered, or go back to another self-imposed hiatus while the division works itself out.
Lots to figure out over the next few days.
