The UFC’s debut show in Argentina has its co-main event.
Two featherweights coming off losses will serve as the co-main event for the UFC’s first appearance in Argentina.
Officials announced on Tuesday that featherweight contenders Ricardo Lamas and Darren Elkins will square off in South America. The night’s six-fight main card airs live on Fox Sports 1 at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT.
Lamas (18-7) is on a two-fight losing streak for the first time in his career. After a stunning KO loss to Josh Emmett in December 2017, “The Bully” suffered a split decision defeat against Mirsad Bektic at UFC 225. The former title challenger’s last win was a first-round TKO of Jason Knight at UFC 214.
Elkins (24-6) had his memorable six-fight winning streak snapped via unanimous decision by Alex Volkanovski at UFC Boise, as “The Damage” absorbed a ton of damage, but didn’t get stopped. On his incredible run towards title contention, Elkins submitted Michael Johnson, edged out Dennis Bermudez by split decision, and famously came from well behind to KO Mirsad Bektic at UFC 209.
UFC Buenos Aires takes place on Saturday, November 17th. The main event is a welterweight bout between Arrgentina’s own Santiago Ponzinibbio and fellow contender Neil Magny.
