Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be heading back to London, England, for another “Fight Night” mixed martial arts (MMA) event inside the world-famous O2 Arena on Sat., March 16, 2019.
The promotion revealed the plans on Thursday.
“Ever since our first event in London in 2002, the city has always been a special location for the UFC. The fans here are some of the most passionate in the world and always turn up in their numbers to show their support,” commented UFC Senior Vice President, International and Content, David Shaw. “The UK is home to many of our world class mixed martial artists and its fantastic to see the sport continue to go from strength to strength here. It’s going to be a great night of action.”
This will mark the promotion’s 11th event in London and may include local talent Jimi Manuwa and Danny Roberts, who were both on hand for the official announcement.
“There’s nothing like the London fans, especially for me as it’s my home town,” Manuwa said. “Walking out to a packed O2 arena, looking at the crowd and seeing so many familiar faces is a dream in itself.”
No fights have been attached to the card as of this writing and it’s unclear whether this will air live as part of the new ESPN deal or the UFC Fight Pass network, though you can expect that announcement sooner, rather than later.
