Invicta is back with a featherweight title bout, and some other promising match ups.
Invicta’s been out of commission for a while, but they’re back – and that’s a great thing.
Invicta 32 brings us a fun collection of prospect fights, some sensible veteran matchups and a battle for the featherweight title vacated by Cris “Cyborg” Justino. Felicia Spencer (5-0) will try to fend off aggressive grappler Pam Sorenson (7-2). It’s been an interesting and fun journey to see Felicia Spencer come up the Invicta ranks to get here, as Felicia’s arsenal of kicks and range strikes should serve her well alongside her sometimes frenetic pace. Sorenson’s got a very strong grappling base and can take punishment with patience to make the fight run at her pace.
MIZUKI (Inoue) returns to Invicta with her balanced and clever striking game to take on underrated athlete and always game Viviane Pereira (13-2), who replaces Heather Jo Clark. Pereira is coming off a 2-2 run in the UFC and rightfully should have been given another chance, but she may find a good home in Invicta to ply her trade. MIZUKI has spent time in New York training with the Serra/Longo crew alongside Ulka Sasaki, Aljamain Sterling, Merab Dvashvili and her brother, Naoki Inoue.
Ashley Cummins (6-4) brings her clever and risky grappling game against Brazilian newcomer Jessica Delboni (7-0). A catchweight belt is on between the 5’11 Sarah Patterson (5-4) and former Invicta matchmaker Kaitlin Young (8-9, 1 draw).
Alexa Connors (5-2) looks to set things straight at bantamweight against the always daring (and very fun social media follow) Julia Avila (5-1). BJJ ace Erin Blanchfield (2-0) is ready for a showdown for the young and energetic Kay Hansen (3-1), who replaces BJJ royalty Luanna Alzugir.
GLORY kickboxer Isis Verbeek makes her MMA debut against Kathryn Poprocki (1-0 pro, 3-0 amateur), while Liz Tracy (5-2) will try to use her veteran savvy against the super athletic Stephanie Geltmacher (3-0).
Mitzi Merry (2-0) comes back to remain active after a major interruption in her career, as she opens the card against Chelsea Chandler (0-1).
