Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Conor McGregor has been laying relatively low lately when it comes to MMA since his high-profile loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. He seems mostly to be focusing on launching his new whiskey brand, which he recently had to apologize for. There is no official word on his next opponent, though Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone called him out after a win over Mike Perry, a potential bout McGregor opened as favorite in.

However, “The Notorious” is always good for a shoutout to a successful teammate. Today, he congratulated his teammate, fellow Irishman Cian Cowley, for getting a leg kick TKO tonight. A welterweight, Cowley won his Brave CF 18 bout in a round, an impressive result by any metric. His official pro record is now 2-1.

Daniel Cormier wants you to tag his next opponent… who is buying that it will affect his decision-making in the slightest?

Kazushi Sakuraba is one of the Greatest of All Times.

One got good looks, the other got the fighting genes?

Is this most MMA nickname and shorts design ever?

This was funny because you could really picture Hannibal Buress saying it

This cat has claws

Never believe a Diaz is back until the get into the cage

I enjoy thinking of Darren Elkins as a superhero, but something of a cross between one from Super or Kickass, where he lacks the self-awareness to know how bad his chest tattoo is, but at the same time has built up a real superhuman toughness that keeps him in fights he has no business being in.

Slips, Rips, and KO Clips

This spinning backfist is excellent- Kailan Hill sets it up with a lead hook and spins straight into his opponent.

This is not his first spectacular knockout- he’s one to keep an eye on!

One-two

It has been a while since I’ve seen a lead leg switchkick land this cleanly

Just keeping hitting, hitting, hitting

Tenshin Nasukawa is fighting tonight, and so are a couple fighters who pushed him to the limit

I had forgotten about how close this fight was- George St. Pierre ended his reign in a dogfight against Johny Hendricks. GSP came back to take Michael Bisping’s middleweight belt and retire again, while Hendricks won the welterweight belt, then fell off so steeply that last week he got knocked out in a bareknuckle boxing match.
